Helpliner:
|
Helpliners provide a confidential, non-judgmental and anonymous problem-solving support to Helpline callers. They undergo more than thirty hours of training enabling them to discuss and support individuals going through all different types of situations. A minimum of a one-year dedication to the line is required and a strict monthly commitment of a minimum of four four-hour shifts is also a requirement. Volunteers must be at least eighteen years of age.
Virtual Help Volunteer: Just like the Helpliner position, virtual help volunteers assist youth and their parents in times when talking out a problem can lead to the self-realization of the best solution. The TEEN TOUCH website offers a place to talk-it-out online for added convenience. Having been a Helpliner for several months is a prerequisite. |
Those involved give presentations at high schools and other youth centers around Winnipeg. The goal is to inform youth of the services TEEN TOUCH provides and different ways in which they can help themselves. This is done in pairs with the aid of video presentation, pamphlets and other informational media.
Team Youth:
High school students grades nine through twelve from across Winnipeg assemble to work together to provide a voice for young people, explore solutions to youth issues and promote positive youth activities. Members meet throughout the year, attend conferences and organize events of their own initiative.
School / Community Representative:
TEEN TOUCH strives to represent youth from all across Manitoba through its school and community representatives. This is a new facet and is in the start-up stages. Our target is to have a representative from every high school and community across the province. Members will meet in person and communicate electronically in order to best address youth issues.
Bingo Volunteer:
Volunteers help organize and run the TEEN TOUCH fundraising bingos on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 174 Maple Street.
|
Office Volunteer: Help in the office performing clerical work, answering phones and selling items from the TEEN TOUCH canteen. Dress is neat casual and regular office hours are 9:00-5:00 weekdays. Technical Support: A strong knowledge of technology, in particular computer software and hardware, is necessary. Help is only needed sporadically and can often be accommodated through phone calls and e-mails. As a result, commitment level for this position is low. |
Help is needed to enter data into TEEN TOUCH programs in order to generate useful information and statistics. Updating and maintaining the TEEN TOUCH website is also included in this position so a strong working knowledge of basic software is needed. This is a regular, weekly commitment.
Board Member:
To sit on the Board of Directors and assist with policy and program development as well as fundraising initiatives. Attend monthly meetings.
