A message from our Executive Director
This website is not like all the others.
  1. It is designed to help YOU make your life better. It contains information that is useful, easy to read and understand, and that we think will work for you.

  2. It is designed for ALL youth. You don't have to wait until there's a crisis before you can talk to us. We know that lots of times you just have to talk about things in order to figure out if they're really problems and to decide what to do about them. That's why there's a chat area where you can talk privately to a virtual volunteer Helpliner about the things bothering you.

  3. All counseling and therapy is based on problem-solving: identifying the problem, figuring out ways to deal with it, putting solutions into practice, and evaluating the success of your strategies. We show you how to problem-solve and find your own solutions, because good problem-solving leads to good decisions, resulting in healthier people and healthier relationships.

  4. The website has a broad focus that goes beyond heavy issues like abuse, drugs, alcohol, peer pressure, sex, gangs, etc. Getting along with people is a major skill, and we have tips that can sharpen your abilities.

  5. We know, because we've been there, too, that you don't want to spend a lot of time waiting for web pages to download, only to discover that the information isn't useful or that you've read it before. We'll link you to places with useful information that you can get to quickly and easily. The list of links will grow. (If you know of a useful site, please send us the link and if it fits our criteria, we'll publicize it.)

  6. We’ve added new interactive tools, if you are looking for a local resource check out our Province wide resource guide (which we’re always updating- let us know what is missing). We also have “ask the expert” and “virtual help” which are interactive features that you can access from your computer to speak to one of our volunteers online.

  7. This website is also a resource for parents and teachers. We'll give them useful tips and link them to the resources they need in order to become better parents and more effective teachers. In the long run it pays off for you and helps to make your life better.

  8. There's even space for you to link up to TEEN TOUCH sponsors and see what they do.

  9. Finally, we want to know what you think about this website-suggestions for improving it or anything else you want to tell us. Please leave us an email at teentouch@mts.net or link to us through the “sound off” link. Watch for exciting changes and announcements about this site and Teen Touch in the coming weeks and months.

I hope you enjoy your visit to TEEN TOUCH.
